Games4Empowerment is an annual contest that seeks to promote the development of video games aimed at solving real-world problems. For that reason, each year we select the most outstanding exponents in three categories: best design, best development, and best contribution.
On its first edition (2018), we had the participation of 16 teams coming from four different institutions in our home state of Colima, Mexico. For its realization, we collaborated with Universidad de Colima, Instituto Nacional de Investigación en Sociedad y Tecnología (INIST), and the Centro Multidisciplinario de Investigación y Evaluación de Políticas Públicas (Cognos +).
For the second edition (2019), 7 teams coming from four different schools in the region participated. On this occasion, during the realization of the event, we had the support of the Government of the State of Colima through its Instituto para el Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible (IMADES), as well as Universidad de Colima, and the Centro Multidisciplinario de Investigación y Evaluación de Políticas Públicas (Cognos +).
For the third edition (2020), 9 teams from the West region of the country participated. On this occasion, we had the support of the Centro Multidisciplinario de Investigación y Evaluación de Políticas Públicas (Cognos +), CAEDI, and the EdTech program Código Frida. Due to the pandemic, unlike in previous years, all activities took place through the official platform of the event.
For the realization of the fourth edition (2021), we had the support of the Centro Multidisciplinario de Investigación y Evaluación de Políticas Públicas (Cognos +), CAEDI, and the EdTech program Código Frida. Inspired by the health contingency experienced due to the COVID19 outbreak, titles that best contributed to health promotion, prevention, treatment, or maintenance were awarded. The event took place online and was attended by 15 teams from the region.
